Bella Ilha is a restaurant and café/bar conveniently located in the Lido area next to many hotels and is opposite from the Melia Madeira Mare Hotel. Interior is spacious and colourful with a diner-style. Provides a pleasant esplanade for outdoor eating with parassols. Serves a delightful variety of Madeiran as well as international dishes at very competitive prices for the area. Apart from the extensive menu, Bella Ilha offers a daily dish of the day at economic prices. Specializes in fresh meat and fish dishes served with vegetables, rice or chips plus serving omelets, pizzas, pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, desserts and regional drinks. Portions are large but there is the possibility of choosing the half-sized portion. Staff are very friendly speaking several languages and service is speedy. Ideal for groups and families and is very popular among locals.

Summary:
Simple but pleasant

Myself and my family ate at Bella Ilha some 4/5 times during our holiday to Madeira and this was because it was close to our hotel and secondly, its the kind of restaurant you can go to and know what to expect...in this case big portions, for something between 5.50 euros and 6.50 euros pp which suited our budget nicely and our stomachs! Kids always had the half-sized portions which was still a biggish plate and we always selected from the dishes of the day. Food was always well-cooked and we never had to wait too long for our meals to arrive. After eating inside the first time we chose to eat in the esplanade the rest of the times. This was because the interior of the restaurant can get quite loud and busy during lunch hours. The esplanade is a bit tight and we did knock chairs with people at times when getting up or sitting down but we loved being able to catch some sun during our meals. Would definitely recommend Bella Ilha to people staying in the Lido zone that are looking for just a simple but pleasant place to eat at low prices with plenty of options on the menu. Especially good for families with children. Mine always wanted to go back!
