Lareira Portuguesa

The Lareira Portuguesa is a seafood restaurant situated on a side road of the Estrada Monumental in the Lido zone in Funchal. Due to its location near many hotels in the area, the Lareira Portuguesa restaurant is very popular among new and returning visitors to the island. The interior design is bright and very warm and the large-sized dining room can seat up to 130 guests. You can find a showcase of fresh fish upon your entrance of the restaurant and an aquarium with live lobster and crab also. The menu presents a delightful array of fresh traditional Madeiran fish and seafood dishes. There is also a couple of meat suggestions if fish is not what you desire. Desserts include apple or lemon tarts, the famous Charlotte dessert, mousses and homemade puddings. The wine list is very extensive and includes many of the best known Portuguese wines. The service is professional and very helpful. A much recommended locale for seafood lovers.
