Summary:
Possibly the best food in Funchal

We recently visited Funchal and found (somewhat by accident) the White House Pub in Rua da Casa Branca. Don't be put off by the "pub" title, this place is a gem of a restaurant with genuine home cooked, fresh, Portuguese dishes plus many more. We had two meals there and our hostess, Zita, looked after us very well both times. The Portuguese style kebabs on skewers are to be highly recommended, as are the many fish dishes available. Likewise, the beef steak with ham in a beautiful mushroom/garlic sauce was delicious. The whole experience won’t cost you an excessive amount either. Thanks, Zita, and the chefs who made this a delightful experience.

Löysin netin ruokapaikkojen arvostelujen kautta kyseisen ravintolan ja päätimme monien epäonnisten ruokapaikkojen jälkeen kokeilla sitä. Ruoka oli todella maukasta ja palvelu ystävällistä, ei kiirettä ja malttoivat kuunnella asiakasta. Suosittelen lämpimästi.

just come back from madeira called in to this place a few times. the owner is so intuitive I was sat outside with my wife he came outside I put my wifes glass up in the air, thinking that he missed it I went inside to order drink as soon as I went up to the bar my drink was waiting for me.This chap knows exactly what he is doing he runs a tight ship.Finger on the pulse all the time.I have never seen anything like it.He deserves to to do well,thanks to the old man as well (owners father)
