PVP-Pao Vinho e Petiscos
Overview
PVP or Pão Vinho e Petiscos is a small restaurant brilliantly located in the Lido zone near several five star hotels. The PVP's aim is to serve irresistible regional dishes or snacks accompanied by a soothing glass of wine from the Region or the Alentejo. Delicacies available on the menu are Portuguese sausages, octopus, cod, pork marinated in garlic and wine, rabbit and Espetada among many other Portuguese favourites. Foods are very fresh and nicely presented. PVP has three main areas; the covered esplanade, main dining area and a wine cellar where you can sample some popular wines and even buy them. Atmosphere is informal and relaxing. Service is efficient and staff are helpful in recommending a wine suitable for your chosen meal. Ideal for either lunch or dinner dining.

Eating out was a pleasure

We found this restaurant after we became totally disenchanted with the evening meals at our (nearby) hotel - no names, no pack drill. The staff were cheerful and friendly, we felt that their wine cellar was superb and the food was excellent (do try the king prawns with garlic and chillies). We discovered there were other customers from our hotel and we also found out from the restaurant staff that they regularly got customers from our hotel and another one nearby. They do get busy in the evening so arrive early or book in advance to avoid being disappointed. The only very slight downside (because nowhere is perfect) is the rather high level of traffic noise in the early evening, but this declines as time goes by.
