Offers a good selection of tasty desserts and wines. Knowledgeable staff in regards to foods and wines. Service is attentive and very friendly. Apart from the main menu, there is also a dish of the day. Provides quality at very reasonable prices.

Summary:
"O Violino" - you should visit!

We have returned to this restaurant several times over the past 2 years, both at lunchtimes and for dinner in the evenings. The staff are always welcoming and service is excellent. Food is wonderful with a varied menu - the scabbard with banana (a local delicacy) is particularly good and their risottos are delicious. Although just a stone's throw from the cable car station, with the cars travelling overhead, you cannot hear them. Traffic can be a little intrusive on occasion, but it's great to sit outside and "people watch". We look forward to eating there again on another visit to this lovely island.

The best place to enjoy the steak on stone! Original and very tasty with clean beef. Really enjoyed the venue. Will go back on our next visit as well.
Avoid, you can easily find better place.

On top of high prices for average food (it's hit or miss really, risotto was good, other things we ate there not really) you will get also something that you didn't order (local bread, what is free in other places you will pay for here). A waiter mixed items we've ordered; you would think "shrimps with mango" doesn't sound like "shrimps with garlic"? well, try this restaurant. We also ordered soups that never arrived. Getting our order right and not sneaking items we wouldn't pay for would impress us more than couple of words in our language that waiter managed to learn.

Overpriced, staff mixing the order, charging for things we didn't order. We were in different restaurants while staying in Funchal but won't be back here for sure.
Very very good restaurant

Me and my husband stayed for a week in november 2017 in Funchal. I had read some good things about this restaurant on the internet before we went there. We liked the place so much, and we dined there for nearly all the days. Everything is good. We recommend it to our friends and everyone who wants a good experience. We look forward to be back next time we visit Madeira.
