Cidade Velha

Cidade Velha is a classical restaurant situated alongside the São Tiago Forte in the 'Old Town' in Funchal. This restaurant is made of three main dining areas; the pleasant interior, the covered exterior terrace or in the large esplanade with beautiful views overlooking the ocean and incoming cruise ships. Menu consists of fresh fish and meat dishes such as cod fish, the house steak, Chateaubriand, stuffed piglet, Madeira style swordfish, grilled squid among others. There are a great number of delicious and homemade desserts as well as a fair priced local wine list. Serves Regional drinks such as Poncha. Service is highly professional but convivial. Prices are average for the area.
