Overview
Restaurante O Tapassol Terrace is the sister restaurant of the Restaurante Le Jardin and is located in front of the Porto Santa Maria Hotel in the 'Old Town' zone of Funchal. O Tapassol is situated in an old building and offers a calm and pleasant atmosphere to dine in. The ground-floor has a small yet comfortable dining room with simple décor and street view. The restaurant has a covered terrace/balcony on its first floor which provides a wonderful ambiance with surrounding garden, city and partial sea views. Menu is comprised of traditional Madeiran cuisine as well as other dishes less found on local menus such as rabbit and pork filled with Morello cherries and plums. Restaurante O Tapassol is recommended for its fresh fish and seafood plates. Waiters are professional and inviting speaking several languages. An aperitif of Madeira wine is served as a complimentary drink before your meal.

Summary:
A great welcome back

This was my first real taste of the Food of Madeira and from that first time in 2004 I have visited again every year since. I honestly can't find fault with the food or the service. Can't wait for the next visit.
Decepción

Fui a almorzar con mi esposa el día 21-1-2018 y éramos los únicos en el restaurante. Le dije que deseaba sombra porque el sol me hace daño. Me ofreció la segunda planta que también estaba vacía. de indicó la venta y también daba el sol. Pedimos pez espada y bacalao. El pez espada normal. PERO EL BACALAO PÉSIMO. COMO SE ESTUVIERA HECHO DESDE HACE UNA SEMANA. Se lo hicimos saber al camarero pero le molestó le pagamos y no nos dijo ni adiós. NO ME EXTRAÑA QUE ESTUVIERA VACIO
